Who I am: Kareana Jensen (Jay Bird is my pseudonym), author of easy-to-read teen fiction, middle-grade & YA fiction.

Why I write: I love it. Writing is my passion and my anchor. I can express myself freely and with joy through writing. I write Read-Easy teen fiction because I want to help reluctant, struggling and infrequent readers develop confidence, success and enjoyment with reading.
What I write about: Teenagers (boys and girls) aged 14-17 and their families and friends. My characters deal with fantastical abilities or situations of mild fantasy, the supernatural and horror. My books are a reflection of the vast landscape of my imagination & are written to entertain the teen readers I encounter every day in my job as a Secondary Teacher.
Where I'm from: Moranbah, Queensland, Australia (born and raised). At the moment, I'm living in Middlemount, Queensland but have lived in: Brisbane; Tumbler Ridge: British Columbia; Biloela; Hervey Bay.

When I started writing: My entire life in one way or another, but in a serious way since 2019.
How I write: Most days - morning (before work) and evenings.
