Squeezing in my writing around schoolwork has been a challenge and a conflict of interest has really stopped me from getting out there and working in schools as an author.
After many years as a classroom teacher, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be stepping into a new chapter in from July in 2026, I’ll be taking a professional hiatus from teaching to fully explore life as an author, creative, and workshop facilitator. I'll be an author visiting schools in 2026! Yay! (Visualise me cartwheeling).
For six months, I’ll be available for school author visits, writing workshops for students, and teacher professional development sessions. I’ll also be embracing the maker’s life - selling my popular handmade crystal and wooden light features at local markets.
The idea of stepping away from full-time teaching is both exhilarating and a little scary but I have always taken creative leaps - it's just that this one is a little bigger than usual!

Making my wooden, crystal light creations has been the perfect 'hand & heart' hobby & with regular attendance at markets, I can earn some solid income from this work. I just have to find a way to make these whilst living in Middlemount without a shed....
